Gustav Leaves A Severe Blood Shortage In Jackson County
Hurricane Gustav did little damage to Jackson County, but seriously hurt the county's blood supply. The Blood Center, the sole provider of blood to Jackson County, is six days behind schedule due to the storm. Silver Slipper Casino Reopens In Hancock County
The Silver Slipper Casino reopened for business Saturday afternoon in Hancock County. General Manager John Ferrucci told WLOX News the land based structure received some damage to the exterior and the lower level entrance, but the gaming floor and the Silver Slipper's three restaurants were untouched by Gustav's storm surge.

Family Of Hurricane Gustav Victim Talks About Painful Loss
The family of the only person on the Mississippi coast to die in Hurricane Gustav says it was his generous heart that cost him his life. Larry Melton's body was found Wednesday in Gulfport Lake, two days after he went missing. The Harrison County coroner says the 54-year-old drowned.

While the storm surge in Bay St. Louis wasn't nearly as bad as it was during Hurricane Katrina, it did get rough for a while. The water came rushing over the sea wall, and pushed a boat into John Worrell's front yard.
Red Cross Volunteers Aid South Mississippi Storm Victims
The American Red Cross travels the world helping wherever they are needed. Crews have been driving around South Mississippi most of the day Tuesday, passing out food, water, and assessing wind and water damage left behind by Gustav. Patrice Clark caught up with a Red Cross crew in Jackson County, where residents say the organization's aid is right on time.
