Trial date to be set Thursday for doctor facing drug charges
A trial date will be set Thursday morning for Dr. David Allen. He's the heart surgeon whose Jackson County property was raided in February 2009. During that raid, authorities said they found marijuana. A grand jury indicted Dr. Allen last week. It charged him with one count of cultivation, and one count of possession of marijuana.
Federal prosecutor: 'Red flags' were shining at Nick Tran
Jury deliberations began early Wednesday afternoon in the federal drug trial of Biloxi pharmacist Nick Tran. The 42-year-old faces a 59 count indictment which alleges he took part in a conspiracy to distribute large numbers of illicit narcotics prescriptions. The jury considered the case for about four hours, then recessed for the evening. Deliberations resume at nine o'clock Thursday morning.
St. Martin man sentenced to 20 years for wife's murder
A St. Martin man will spend 20 years in prison for stabbing and killing his wife in 2008. Wednesday, Judge Kathy King Jackson gave 68-year-old Thomas Carr the maximum sentence for manslaughter. Patrice Clark spoke with the victim's family.
D'Iberville teacher shares fears, frustrations over budget cuts
A south Mississippi teacher says cuts to education will be a painful blow to children in the classroom.  On Tuesday, Harrison County Superintendent Henry Arledge talked about the possibility of $8.4 million in cuts next year. Wednesday, a D'Iberville teacher told Trang Pham-Bui why it's the students who will suffer, if more money is slashed from education.

School cancels prom after lesbian's date request
The prom's off at a northern Mississippi school after a teenage lesbian demanded she be allowed to bring her girlfriend to the April 2 event. The American Civil Liberties Union had issued a demand letter to the Itawamba County school district on behalf of 18-year-old Constance McMillen.
